Dominican University Hosts Lazerow Lecture
Joseph Janes, founding director of the Internet Public Library, will deliver the annual ISI Samuel Lazerow Memorial Lecture at Dominican University on Thursday, March 4 at 6:00 p.m. in the Eloise Martin Recital Hall, located on the university’s main campus, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest.Janes, associate professor and chair of library and information science at the Information School of the University of Washington, will present “Library Reference Work in the Digital Age: What’s Next…and Why.” Janes is the co-author of eight books on librarianship and technology, including Introduction to Reference Work in the Digital Age, and writes the Internet Librarian column for American Libraries magazine.
Dominican University is one of the few graduate schools of library and information science to receive the coveted annual Lazerow lectureship award from Thomson ISI, a division of The Thomson Corporation providing access to essential information for researchers and scholars worldwide for over 45 years. The lecture honors the memory of Samuel Lazerow, an eminent library administrator and pioneer in the use of electronic information systems. The lecture series exposes students, faculty and the professional community to leading thinkers in information technology and policy.
