Stars Wrap-up Regular Season
The Dominican University Stars wrapped up the regular season with a pair of losses in the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC), dropping their overall record to 4-21 and their conference record to 2-10.On Wednesday, the Stars fell to Rockford College 76-69. The Stars battled the Regents back and forth, with Rockford taking its biggest lead, 37-26, into the half.
Ocie Peet (Racine, WI/Horlick) paced the Stars with 21 points and eight rebounds while seniors Steve Preston (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) and Eric Dunn (Chicago, IL/Curie) chipped in 17 and 12 points respectively in their final game at Dominican University’s Igini Sports Forum.
The Stars then traveled to Eureka College on Saturday for the final regular season game of the 2003-04 season. The Stars lost the contest 85-71 despite 17-point efforts from both Dunn and Peet. Peet also added 12 rebounds in the losing effort while Preston added 12 points.
The Stars now return to Eureka College on Monday for the first round of the NIIC Tournament. The game will tip-off at 7:30 p.m.
