DU Hosts Author of Best-Selling Novel

Dominican University presents a discussion and book signing by Audrey Niffenegger, author of the best-selling novel, The Time Traveler’s Wife, on Thursday, January 15 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. The discussion will be held in the lounge of Lewis Hall on the main campus, 7900 W. Division Street, River Forest, IL.

Niffenegger’s first novel, The Time Traveler’s Wife has had a celebrated debut. Before it even hit bookstores, Hollywood came knocking in the form of Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, who snatched up the rights to the book for a film version with New Line Cinema.

Shortly after arriving in bookstores in September, The Time Traveler’s Wife was selected as the 15th book for discussion by the Today Show’s Book Club (NBC-TV) and debuted at number nine on The New York Times Bestseller List.

The book is the story of Henry and Clare, a young married couple living in Chicago whose lives are complicated by Henry’s chrono-displacement disorder, a genetic condition that transports him through time. Henry, a librarian and graduate of Rosary College (now known as Dominican University), journeys involuntarily back and forth through various periods of his own life. He first meets his wife, Clare, when she is six and he is an adult. A classic love story, albeit with a rather unsettling twist, The Time Traveler’s Wife is a gripping, intricately woven page-turner.

Niffenegger is a writer, visual artist and professor at Columbia College Center for Book and Paper Arts, where she teaches writing and book production. She is a resident of Chicago. She shows her artwork at Printworks Gallery in Chicago.

For more information on this free discussion, please contact Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science, at (708) 524-6845.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In the 2004 issue of America’s Best Colleges, US News & World Report again ranked Dominican University in the top tier of Midwest master’s level universities and as a “best value” for the sixth consecutive year.

“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
