Stars Streak Reaches Eight
The Dominican University Stars have gone on an eight-game losing streak after winning the season
opener over Blackburn College 58-44. The Stars dropped three games last week to Judson College,
Milwaukee School of Engineering (M.S.O.E.), and Edgewood College.
On Tuesday, December 9, the Stars lost to Judson College 74-69. The Stars trailed the Eagles
36-26 at the half but slowly chipped away at the Judson lead, pulling to within one at 70-69 with
just 0:53 remaining in the game. Despite two opportunities to take the lead, the Stars surrendered
a bucket to the Eagles who then put the game out of reach.
The Stars’
Steve Preston (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) led the Stars with 18 points and added
five rebounds in the losing effort.
On Friday, the Stars traveled to Wisconsin for the Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference (NIIC)
vs. Lake Michigan Conference challenge with M.S.O.E. and Edgewood. On Friday, the Stars lost to the
M.S.O.E. Raiders 73-61, despite a 28-point, 4-rebound, and 4-steal effort by senior
Eric Dunn (Chicago, IL/Curie).
The Stars then lost to Edgewood College on Saturday, 72-58.
Jason Polakowski (Elmwood Park, IL/Elmwood Park) and
Ocie Peet (Racine, WI/Horlick) each scored in double-figures for the Stars,
scoring 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Stars look to get back on track on Saturday, December 20, when they host Albion College
for 3:00 p.m. game.
