Stars Give Test to Nation’s 25th Ranked Team
The Dominican University Stars battled the Albion College Britons, the nation’s 25th ranked team, on Saturday and came up with a 70-60 loss.Senior guard Eric Dunn (Chicago, IL/ Curie) led the Stars’ attack on both ends of the floor, pouring in a game-high 18 points and dishing out 6 assists as well as drawing the tough task of guarding the Britons’ Michael Thomas, who entered Saturday’s contest scoring 22.1 points per game.
The Stars trailed by just two points at the half, after Jason Polakowski (Elmwood Park, IL/Elmwood Park) put Dominican ahead 34-33 with a three-pointer in the final minute of the half. However, the Britons knocked down a three of their own to take a 36-34 lead entering the second half.
Steve Preston (Johnsburg, IL/Johnsburg) chipped in 13 points for the Stars on 4-for-11 shooting from the field and went 4-for-6 from the free-throw line.
The loss drops the Stars to 1-9 on the year and they will return to the court on Wednesday, December 31, when they take on the University of Windsor from Ontario, Canada, at Palm Beach Atlantic in a 1:00 p.m. game.
