Stars Shutout UW-Superior
The Dominican University women’s soccer team improved its record to 2-3 with an 8-0 shutout over the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Saturday at home. The Stars got on the board just eight minutes into the game on a corner kick by sophomore Stephanie Mumm (Omaha, NE/Marian) that sophomore Jessica Levitt (Kamuela, HI/Parker) put in the back of the Yellowjackets’ goal. The goal was Levitt’s first of the day and first of the season. Levitt added a second goal in the second half.
Levitt’s two-goal performance was outdone by junior Renee Vai (Eagan, MN/Normandale C.C.) who recorded her second hat-trick of the year with three goals. Vai now leads the Stars with nine goals in five games.
Junior Nicole Miller (Florissant, MO/Incarnate Word) was perfect in net, recording two saves en route to her second shutout of the season.
Earlier in the week, the Stars lost to Lake Forest College 3-0. Miller was the only bright spot for the Stars, recording 12 saves in the losing effort.
