DU Book Club Features Hotel Du Lac
Dominican University’s Book Club will meet on Thursday, September 18 to discuss Anita Brookner’s
Booker Prize-winning novel,
Hotel Du Lac. The book club, which is open to the public, will meet from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
in Room 003 of the Rebecca Crown Library.
Hotel Du Lac is the multi-layered story of Edith Hope, an astute middle-aged romance
writer who is banished by her London social circle to a Swiss lakeside hotel after committing an
appalling social faux pas. During her sojourn, she encounters a cast of quirky characters and
learns to come to terms with her past.
For more information about the Dominican Book Club, contact Mary Pat Radke, assistant
director of the Rebecca Crown Library, at (708) 524-6870 or at
mradke@dom.edu.
“As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
