Local Student Receives Dominican Awards

Jennifer Wagner, a resident of Lyons, was recently honored with Dominican University''s Rising Star Award as well as the university''s Golden Star Award. The Rising Star Award is presented each year to students demonstrating true Dominican University spirit in activities both on and off campus. The Golden Star is awarded to seniors who show outstanding leadership qualities.

During the past academic year Wagner was an endowed scholar and president of the Dominican University chapter of the American Institute of Graphics Arts, a member of the Dominican University website redesign committee and a member of the Theotokeion Honor Society. She also served as a student worker in the undergraduate admissions office where she gave orientation tours to prospective students and designed the transfer student guide for the university website.

Wagner graduated from the university this spring with a bachelor''s degree in graphic design and is pursuing a master's degree in marketing at the university. She is production manager for the university's Office of Marketing and Communications.

Founded in 1901, Dominican University is a comprehensive, coeducational Catholic institution offering bachelor's and master''s degrees. Dominican offers 51 undergraduate academic programs in the Rosary College of Arts and Sciences and 18 graduate programs in four graduate schools through the Graduate School of Library and Information Science, the Graduate School of Business and Information Systems, the School of Education and the Graduate School of Social Work. “As a student I wanted an intimate community. As an aspiring journalist I wanted a big city. Dominican gave me both—and so much more.”
