Local Student Wins DU Science Scholarship
Christopher Gallicchio of Schiller Park, IL was recently awarded the Ida Brechtel Scholarship from Dominican University. Gallicchio is a 2003 graduate of East Leyden High School and will begin studies at Dominican this fall.The Ida Brechtel Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship for high school seniors and transfer students who plan to major in biology or biology-chemistry at Dominican. Candidates must rank in the top 15 percent of their class with an ACT composite score of 26 or higher and a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or better. Scholarships are awarded based on a letter of recommendation from a science teacher and a 250-word essay.
