Bio

Ellen McManus teaches courses in writing—with a particular interest in non-fiction genres and writing across the disciplines—and in 19th-century British literature, with a particular interest in Victorian writing. She has co-authored three composition textbooks. Her current interests are public rhetoric about and literary explorations of religion and science in the 19th century, with a particular interest in Darwin, 19th century responses to Darwin, and the influence of Darwin’s ideas in a variety of disciplines. McManus is also interested in the impact of technology on writing practices and in the teaching of writing through community service.
