Department of Art, Art History and Design

PAINTING AND DRAWING

Painting majors take the majority of their course work in drawing, painting and printmaking. Additional courses in art history, design, photography and sculpture extend the scope of the major. Students acquire the technical proficiency needed to begin to set up and define their personal directions. A central focus of the major is the study of drawing as a means to organize thoughts, feelings and images.

Facilities include three separate studios for drawing, painting, and printmaking, storage racks for large paintings, platforms for life models, flood lamps, easels and taborets, a spray booth room, and a clean critique space.
