Board Fellows

The mission of the Brennan School of Business Board Fellows program is to prepare Brennan students to be civic leaders through exposure to nonprofit organizations and board leadership.

The Dominican Board Fellows Program is an experiential learning program launched in 2011 with the Center for Global Peace through Commerce and the Brennan School of Business.  Through an application process, Brennan students are selected as Board Fellows to participate on a local non-profit board of directors each year, for a term of 7-9 months.  Each fellow is assigned a mentor from the organization’s board of directors.  The mentor works with the fellow throughout the term by providing guidance into the workings of the board.  The program offers a high-impact way for students to serve their communities by using their business knowledge.

Students are provided with a real-world environment where they can further develop their business and communication skills.  The program also provides an opportunity for students to develop skills for effective and thoughtful community leadership, and an opportunity to build your network with other successful, ambitious, mission-driven individuals.

Board Fellow Requirements:

  • Brennan School of Business student
  • Must have completed at least 27 credit hours
  • Be in good academic standing.

By participating in the program, non-profits gain access to talented business leaders with fresh and innovative ideas.  In addition, the organizations help in the development of future community leaders.  This is an opportunity for the organization to strengthen its relationships with the Brennan School of Business, as well as engage volunteers in their organization’s work.

  • Nonprofit (501©3) status
  • An operating history of at least one year
  • An annual budget of at least $350,000
  • A minimum of 3 full-time members
