The Secret is Out
What Happens in Canada... Doesn't Stay in Canada

Marketing innovation in Canada is spilling out, to the US and beyond! The leaders of ING Direct and TAXI will highlight their groundbreaking work in Canada, and how it drove success beyond its borders.

Arkadi Kuhlmann
Founder, ING Direct USA
Under the leadership of Toronto native Arkadi Kuhlmann, ING Direct pioneered an internet banking business model which promoted savings to a new generation. First in Canada, then in the US, the business successfully took hold via a combination of online marketing and retail cafe locations, where ING Direct savings accounts are pitched alongside inexpensive lunches, coffee, and pastries.

Paul Lavoie
Co-Founder & Chairman, TAXI
Paul Lavoie has built his Montreal advertising and design company, TAXI, into an enterprise with seven offices in North America and Europe. He is a leading marketing thinker whose company has worked with such corporations and brands as BMW/MINI, Capital One, Canadian Tire, McCain Foods, Pfizer, and Kraft. Paul has strong ideas about Krispy Creme’s fall from grace, the need for “Big, Bold Ideas” to stay competitive, and his firm’s mobile “pothole app” - coming soon to a street near you!

  resume
The on-line Walls Street Journal Careers section is informative and one of my favorite articles showed a “Before” and “After” accounting resume. The “After” version includes a description of accomplishments, results and impact on the company. You can view the resume by clicking on the image to the right, or by clicking here.  Does your resume show the value you bring to the job? Students are invited to make an appointment with me to evaluate whether your resume is marketing you effectively. Contact Grace Whiting at: gwhiting@dom.edu.

5 Tips to Use LinkedIn More Effectively
Check out these tips on how you can get more out of LinkedIn.

Executives Club of Chicago
In the past year, the Brennan School of Business has had seven invitations to attend presentations at the Executives Club of Chicago. Our table of 10 was sponsored by CEOs of several companies, including United Stationers, Merrill Lynch, Charter One Bank- Illinois and Potbelly Sandwiches. The CEOs purchased a table for MBA students, recognizing them as “emerging leaders”. These opportunities allow business students to hear discussion of current topics, led by CEOs and top decision makers of Chicago corporations. When the Executive’s Club extends an invitation, an e-mail will go out to all current BSB students, inviting them to respond. It is usually limited to the first ten respondents. If you see such an e-mail, consider attending a CEO Breakfast or a Luncheon Presentation & Panel. The Executives’ Club of Chicago events have usually been at the Chicago Hilton or the Fairmont Hotel.
