The Boot Camp Story

Dominican’s Entrepreneurs Boot Camp began in 2005 with 70 students, Professor Arvid Johnson (now also Dean of Brennan School of Business) and a select group of business experts. The focus was bringing a vision of entrepreneurship closer to reality. Feedback was positive, and students wanted more. At the next session two years later, attendance almost doubled.

The Boot Camp continued in 2007 and in 2009 attracted the largest group of presenters and attendees yet.

For our fourth Boot Camp on April 2, we return to Parmer Hall with the needs of the entrepreneur in mind. If you are just discovering your entrepreneurial spirit or in the early stages of developing your career, we offer a morning track of three classes tailored to your questions and needs called “Entrepreneurship 101.”

If your business is already happening, you’re ready for the morning “Advanced Entrepreneurship” classes featuring talks about securing financing, understanding selling, and knowing the role of ethics in the world of the entrepreneur.

No matter where you are on your career path, arrive early. Breakfast starts at 8:00 and our keynote speaker is Jack Miller, founder and former president and CEO of Quill Corporation. Mr. Miller will share his wisdom from his book Simply Success: How to Start, Build, and Grow a Multimillion Dollar Business the Old-Fashioned Way.

After our morning classes, lunch is served and a variety of information kiosks will be available in the Parmer Atrium. Marketing students will be involved, testing their marketing spirit in our second Entrepreneurs Challenge T-shirt selling competition.

Our afternoon features a special Dominican Entrepreneurs Panel, featuring members of the Dominican University Community sharing the triumphs and challenges they have experienced in their careers.

Welcome to the 2011 Entrepreneurs Boot Camp.
