Susan Quinn MLIS ’95
has been named director of the River Forest Public Library. Quinn, a lifelong Oak Park resident, was the library's assistant director before her promotion.

Quinn originally attended the University of Iowa to study finance, where she earned a bachelor's degree. While she worked in private banking, she enrolled in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at Rosary College, now Dominican University, to study to become a librarian.

"Banking is great, and you can earn a good living at it," Quinn said. "I would not change a thing about what I did. I think the library just feels more fulfilling to me."

While taking some time to raise her three daughters, Quinn worked as an early childhood educator at First United Nursery School, and returned to her alma mater, Oak Park and River Forest High School, to work in its library for one year.

Approximately eight years ago, she began working at the River Forest Public Library, holding various positions of manager of children's services, head of strategic services and, most recently, assistant director.
