Post Baccalaureate Pre Medical Studies Program

This program is designed as an academic bridge for students who have completed a bachelor's degree and who intend to pursue a degree in the medical sciences including but not limited to:  MD, Ph.D, OD, DDS, DC, MA, and MS.

We offer the opportunity to take pre-requisite and advanced coursework as well as a specialized second bachelor's degree, the BMS, Bachelors of Medical Science.  Please see curriculum tab for details about the degree requirements.

DU's Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Studies Program is appropriate both for students who have never before taken introductory natural science courses (career-changers) and for students who need to improve their grades in the science pre-requisites before applying to a professional program (career enhancers)

Admission Requirements
  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 is requested.
  2. Other criteria that may be considered for students with undergraduate GPAs below 3.00 are:
    • Competitive MCAT and/or GRE scores (although an MCAT/GRE is not required to apply or to gain admission)
    • Advanced college degree (e.g., J.D. or M.S.)
    • Career path in an allied health field where a lower GPA may not be a liability (e.g., nursing, physicial therapy, etc.).
