Food Science & Nutrition

The food science and nutrition major is designed for persons interested in general positions in the food industry that may include activities such as food product development, quality assurance monitoring, or consumer education programs.

Career Opportunities
Prepare for a variety of careers in the diverse field of nutrition. You’ll acquire a strong foundation in biology, biochemistry and physiology, and come to understand the social and psychological dimensions of human nutrition.

Completion of the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) will make you eligible for a dietetic internship and the status of registered dietitian. Many work environments, particularly those in the health-care field, require you to be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) to practice nutrition care.
