Master of Science in Early Childhood Education

Working with the youngest learners in day care, preschool and PreK-3 programs has become a challenging specialty unto itself. As research reveals new insights into how young children learn, this field continues to change and grow.

Young children grow cognitively, linguistically and socially through a variety of early learning experiences. In the Early Childhood Education program, master teachers will show you how to utilize those experiences to maximize the learning potential of young children.

This program is designed for certified, experienced educators as well as those with an appropriate baccalaureate degree who do not have a teaching certificate. Teach for America participants may also use this program to pursue an intensified curriculum.

Requirements–MSED with Entitlement to Type 04 Certification

Satisfactory completion of 32 to 40 semester hours of graduate credit while maintaining a minimum grade point average of 3.0 out of 4.0.

Successful completion of 100 field experience hours in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Master of Science in Education program in the School of Education.
