Welcome Weekend 2009

Your orientation continues with Welcome Weekend, August 29 – 31.

Welcome Weekend is the next step in your orientation program. There have been activities designed to build on your experience at SOAR and help you learn more about the resources and services available to help you be a successful Dominican student.

In addition, we have planned special orientation workshops for your parents on August 30.

Please register for Welcome Weekend by Wednesday August 19.

Saturday, August 29

9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Move-in day for Resident Students

We’ll even provide some experienced “muscle” to help.

If you have any questions about your housing assignment or living on campus, please contact the office of residence life at reslife@dom.edu.

Sunday, August 30


8:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Opening Day for New Students and Families
8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Check-in to the Welcome Weekend
Program and Campus Resource Time
10:30 a.m. - Noon Welcome Weekend Begins in the Lund Auditorium for Students and Parents
Noon – 5:00 p.m. Parent Lunch and Parent Workshops
Noon – 5:00 p.m. Student Lunch and Activities
5:00 p.m. Welcome Weekend Liturgy
6:15 p.m. Opening Dinner hosted by President Donna M. Carroll
8:00 p.m. Evening social for students

Monday, August 31

Mission Day
9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Service Opportunities for new students.  Lunch will be provided and lockers rooms are available following the service experience.
2:00 p.m.  – 3:30 p.m.  First Freshman Seminar Class -  Students will join their classmates for their first college class.  Check your schedule for your classroom location.
3:30 p.m. Class of 2013 Picture
4:00 p.m. Convocation – Students will join their seminar class for the Opening Convocation Ceremony.
5:00 p.m. DU Fest – Join the university community in a celebration for the opening of the school year.
