Career Pathways
What is a Pathway?
The Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree offered at the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at Dominican University prepares graduates for their first professional position in the library and information science field.
Students may focus their study in a variety of areas in order to acquire expertise in a specific aspect of the profession. The GSLIS faculty has prepared descriptions of several different career objectives along with suggested groups of courses from which students may select. These samples are not substitutes for faculty advising, but rather are representative examples. Students should always consult their advisor when outlining a specific course of study.
Reviews of the LIS Pathways take place every one to two years. The pathways listed here were last revised in January 2008.
