MBA/JD with the John Marshall Law School
In cooperation with The John Marshall Law School of Chicago, Dominican’s School of Business offers the Master of Business Administration degree, and John Marshall offers a Juris Doctor degree. The MBA program accepts nine semester hours from courses completed at John Marshall as electives in the MBA program. Reciprocally, John Marshall accepts nine semester hours from courses taken at Dominican University as electives in the law degree program. This degree is open to students who are currently considering either the MBA program at Dominican or the JD program at John Marshall.A candidate for the combined degree must complete the admission requirements for both programs including the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) and the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Students must be accepted by both programs separately to gain entrance into the combined program. A candidate may begin the program at either Dominican University or at John Marshall. In either case, the required first-year curriculum of law study must be taken at John Marshall with no MBA courses taken simultaneously. After 30 semester hours of law course work are completed, the student may take law and MBA course work concurrently. A candidate in the combined MBA/JD program is subject to the same requirements that are outlined for the traditional MBA candidate on page 1. While a minimum of 33 credits (depending on waivers) are required to earn the degree, nine credits will be accepted in transfer from John Marshall as part of the MBA/JD program, bringing the minimum to be completed at Dominican University to 24 credits. The following Dominican MBA courses are acceptable as electives toward the John Marshall JD degree. No more than nine semester hours will be accepted in transfer.
