Master of Science in Knowledge Management (MSKM)
The Master of Science in Knowledge Management degree is designed to prepare students to become professionals in the area of information management. Knowledge management involves capturing strategic information, analyzing markets and developing databases, documents, policies and procedures. KM professionals must understand the language and culture of an organization and know business and financial practices. Dominican University’s degree in knowledge management uses an interdisciplinary approach to address current issues and challenges in the creation, identification, codification and sharing of knowledge within enterprise-activities central to traditional professions and modern business. The Master of Science in Knowledge Management degree brings together Dominican’s well-established programs in business and information systems and its nationally recognized strength in library and information science. The degree is offered jointly by the Brennan School of Business and Dominican’s Graduate School if Library and Information Science.
The Master of Science in Knowledge Management degree is conferred upon candidates who have met the following requirements:
- Satisfactory completion of all required courses;
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 39 semester hours of credit;
- Attainment of a minimum grade point average of 3.0;
- Completion of the degree program within five years or six summers;
- Submission of an application for graduation to the Office of the Registrar; and
- Payment of all fees, including graduation fee.
CURRICULUM
The curriculum is built on a foundation of seven required courses. Students may choose to follow a course of electives leading to a concentration in information science or management systems. The final course is an opportunity to all students to apply their knowledge and skills through concentrated study and work in a KM environment in the Chicago area.
