Master of Business Administration (Online MBA)
Online MBA Program
The Online Master of Business Administration degree program with a concentration in general
management is designed to provide the necessary skills and theoretical background needed by
managers of businesses and organizations. A candidate for the MBA degree will normally need
18 courses to complete the degree. Depending upon the candidate’s undergraduate preparation,
academic performance and GMAT test scores, from one to six of the foundation courses may be
waived. Based on potential waivers, a minimum of 12 courses is required for the degree.
In addition to course waivers, students who have successfully completed relevant course work in
another accredited graduate program may request to have two courses (maximum of six credits)
transferred into our program. Transfer courses are subject to approval. For more
information on waiver and transfer guidelines, click
here.
A student with the appropriate foundation background will be able to complete the online degree
in two calendar years or less. A student without the foundation background will be able to
complete the online degree in three calendar years or less depending on the number of waivers
allowed.
The Master of Business Administration degree is conferred upon candidates who have met the following requirements:
- Satisfactory completion of all required courses;
- Satisfactory completion of 36-54 semester hours of graduate credit, depending on foundation course waivers allowed;
- Attainment of a minimum grade point average of 3.0;
- Submission of an application for graduation to the Office of the Registrar; and
- Payment of all fees, including graduation fee.
Courses
All courses are offered in eight week sessions over a calendar year for a total of six
sessions per year. The program is designed for people with busy schedules due to traveling or
project commitments that prevent them from attending a traditional MBA program. The Brennan
School of Business online program provides asynchronous learning that allows students to do the
course work when it is most convenient for them. It is a program that also meets the needs of
people from geographical locations that prevent easy access to a traditional classroom program.
Foundation courses are offered at least every year. Core courses are offered at least every two years as are the General Management courses. Below is a list of the course requirements as well as a schedule of the course offerings. Although every effort will be made to offer the courses as scheduled, there may be circumstances that require a change in the schedule.
