Margaret Kozak, PhD

Associate Professor of Management Information Systems

PhD, Illinois Institute of Technology
MS, Loyola University Chicago
BS, Loyola University Chicago

“Computer science challenges the breadth and depth of one’s knowledge, ability, and imagination. Because it’s not about learning or becoming an expert in one field; it’s about designing the technological tools that enhance and support every human endeavor. Any given day a practitioner of computer science may be helping to discover the contents of the human genome and the next designing a system to manufacture the best pop top can.  My reward as a teacher is to watch my students begin to see the wonders they can accomplish and the dreams that lead to creation.”
- Margaret Kozak

Prior to joining Dominican University, Margaret Kozak was the Commissioner of MIS for the City of Chicago for five years, where she supervised an annual $14 million budget and over 200 employees.  She has worked as a consultant in web design and web development with a multitude of technologies and computer platforms.  Her research is in the area of intelligent systems and she is working on the development of an empathetic digital entity.

Margaret resides in Fox Lake, Illinois where she enjoys boating and fishing with her family and her logical bulldog “Spock”.
