Steve Harrington, JD

Associate Professor of Accounting

JD, University of Notre Dame
BA, University of Notre Dame

“I have always been motivated as a teacher to help students appreciate the enormity of an accountant’s fiduciary responsibility – whether that responsibility is to an individual, a small business, or to a multinational corporation and its shareholders.  Once they understand the significance of the accounting professional’s role, the fundamentals have more meaning and the bigger picture comes into focus.”
- Steve Harrington

Steve Harrington teaches financial accounting and tax courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. He began his career at Price Waterhouse and subsequently served as CFO for a closely-held business for 10 years before joining Dominican in 1997.

Steve has won various teaching awards at Dominican and coordinates student participation in the Tax Assistance Program, a not-for-profit organization devoted to preparing tax returns for low-income families throughout Chicago.

In addition to teaching, Steve regularly publishes tax articles in various practitioner journals and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the American Accounting Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the Chicago Bar Association.
