Academic Success Services and Diversity is committed to supporting and enhancing the academic success of all enrolled students. Part of this overall commitment is to identify and address impediments to students' academic success. In developing strategies to remove obstacles to academic success, we focus on the common needs of the undergraduate student body, on the varied needs of diverse learning styles, and at the particular needs of at-risk students.

We help Dominican University fulfill its mission as a Catholic liberal arts and sciences institution, particularly in terms of the institutional commitment to diversity, by:

  • Fostering the retention and graduation of African-American, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American/Pacific Islander students at Dominican University.
  • Creating and collaborating on curricular and co-curricular programs that promote diversity education and cultural competence.
  • Building a rich intellectual, social, and spiritual campus environment in which all students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors feel welcomed and valued.
  • Assessing the academic, social, cultural and economic needs of undergraduate students.
  • Developing, implementing, and when appropriate, referring students to support services and programmatic initiatives to address students’ needs.
