Readers as Global Citizens

Proust writes that, “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” Derek Walcott, Nobel Prize winning West Indian poet, writes even more succinctly, “I read; I travel; I become.” In this session we illustrate how the art of closely reading texts can help us see ourselves, each other, and the world in transformational ways.
