"Social Work Education: Caritas et Veritas in Action"

The Graduate School of Social Work is committed to teaching social work values and promoting the mission of the university by preparing students to become competent social workers. Social work as a profession embodies a unique set of values (service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity and competence) that mirrorthe motto of Dominican University. Social work education holds field education as its signature pedagogy. Through their supervised work, students are challenged to apply social work values and carry out the mission of the university. This presentation features case studies from field placements experienced in Chicago and the global community, as well as samples of assignments used to promote self reflection on how to best achieve social justice in a humane and civil society.
