"Languages of Caritas et Veritas: Bridging the Divide between the Self and the Other"

Learning and teaching a foreign language reflects the spirit of Dominican's motto, Caritas et Veritas, by serving as a path toward greater empathy for others, expanding one's opportunities to give compassionate service, and providing new understandings of the self in relation to our global community. This presentation includes a roundtable discussion with foreign language professors and students regarding: * language’s role in both facilitating and complicating the search for truth; * language as a medium for the exploration of cultural diversity and love of other cultures and peoples; and * learning to “love” your native/heritage language.
